Open Call: Animal Farm! (July)
🐖🐖OPEN CALL🐖🐖
HEAR YE, HEAR YE: it’s an “Animal Farm” exhibit at Base Camp Studios! Gather ‘round all ye’ pigs, sheep, horses, cows, chickens, and other barnyard critters for this group show! 🐖 🐑 🐴 🐄 🐓 We are looking for bucolic scenes with beloved farm animals. But bonus points if the animals are also donning extravagantly patriotic attire, wielding pitchforks, and demanding the end to some injustice du jour. Imagine Old MacDonald in the middle of the French Revolution or a 4H Conference at Independence Hall in 1776.
We want to see idyllic sheep in gentle, rolling meadows AND revolutionary pigs. Majestic horses AND prize-winning hogs giving a stump speech. Have a painting with newly hatched baby chicks? 🐣 That would show perfectly in this exhibit. So, too, would an image of cows kicking down the barn door. 🐮 In other words, “all animals are equal, but some animals are more equal than others.”
Artists of all mediums are encouraged to submit, including illustrators, blatant propagandists, and radical street artists. We like that beautiful, thoughtful, limit-pushing work. Just put a chicken on it. This is a show about farm animals first, and politics second. Or maybe it’s about politics first, and farm animals second? Maybe it’s not even about politics. It’s definitely about farm animals. Anyway, it doesn’t really matter—we’re just horsing around with this show and hope you will too.
Submit your pieces that showcase the resistance of the individual, the fall of a false revolution, or the folly of the masses. Wherever it is we want to see it, and don’t forget the animals.
New and existing work will be accepted in proposals. Piece must be finished by drop off dates.

Open Call: Once Upon A Time… (August)
🧚🧚OPEN CALL🧚🧚
Once upon a time there was a gallery in search of artists whose work told great stories of princesses, dragons, and adventures in lands far, far away. That gallery is Base Camp Studios and you are the artist of our fairy tale dreams!
For “Once Upon a Time...” we are seeking works of all mediums depicting contemporary and classic fairy tales from around the world. From a grand “Wish Upon a Star” Disney princess story to a lesser known Brothers Grimm tale with trolls and ogres under bridges, we want to see it all! Let the Monkey King, Anansi, Paul Bunyon, the Coyote and other cultural folk tale heroes (and villains) be your inspiration. “Once Upon a Time...” is a hero vs. villain and good vs. evil kind of show.
Submit your pieces that showcase both classic and contemporary fairy tales. A surrealist spin would complement these magical works. Think outside of the book on these ones.
New and existing work will be accepted in proposals. Piece must be finished by drop off dates.
NOTE: This show will occur in August alongside our Fourth Annual Summer Outdoor Movie Series, presented in partnership with SIFF.

[Ms.Chvus]
[Ms.Chvus] explores the translation of street art into studio practice, preserving the raw, ephemeral nature of public art while recontextualizing it within a gallery space.
Using found and reclaimed materials—advertisements, paper, and urban debris—Brady recreates his street pieces, casting them in epoxy to freeze their roughness while adding a polished, archival layer.
Accompanied by photos of the original works in their street settings, the show highlights the tension between impermanence and preservation, questioning how context shapes meaning in art. Please join us Friday, March 14 from 6-9pm for the Belltown art walk and [Ms.Chvus], @bradytheblack’s debut solo exhibit at Base Camp Studios (2407 1st Ave) 🤘🏽

Midnight Mass: Opening Reception
Please join us Saturday, April 5 from 6-9pm for the opening of “Midnight Mass,” @devon__little’s debut solo exhibition. Reimagine Catholic iconography with a bold, irreverent twist.
Midnight Mass challenges and reinterprets Catholic iconography, blending reverence with rebellion through large-scale still life paintings, sculptural installations, and performance. With a deep focus on the Mother Madonna, Midnight Mass transforms traditional religious imagery into a space of personal and irreverent expression. The exhibition will feature grand oil and acrylic paintings, prayer candle souvenirs, a restored church pew, Swarovski crystal-adorned statues, and a mirror ball crucifix—all culminating in a live performance that invites audiences to participate in a sacrilegious yet deeply intimate celebration.
