💫 Ghosts of Belltown Grand Opening on Dec 7! 💫 Tickets here 🎟️
“If only these walls could talk…”
In Ghosts of Belltown not only do the walls talk—about lives past and the neighborhood that used to be—they also come to life with portraits of our neighbors or the people we encounter in passing every day. Visitors must look closely to find the whispered words and larger-than-life images hidden in plain sight amid rubbish piled high in a space long left vacant, now illuminated once more. Artists @amandamanitach and @bradytheblack use anamorphic techniques to bring life and language to the surrounding rubble. Visitors bask in the neon glow of @yalewolf’s vibrant, Pac-Man-inspired pieces while winding a path through the immersive, low-lit installation designed and arranged by @njferderer.
This expansive installation marks the debut of Base Camp Studios 2, located at the old Bergman Luggage building, and asks how vacant buildings might serve the communities where they are located. It also offers a glimpse of what can be when artists and makers see a space anew. In this way, Ghosts of Belltown honors the multiple lives of a space and its occupants, the ghosts who knew it before, and a community eager to see it come alive once again.
Timed entry tickets are available on a pay-what-you-can basis with a $15 suggested donation, though no one will be turned away for lack of funds. All proceeds go directly to the artists.
Thanks to @belltownunited and @downtownseattle for generous support.
